Frequently Asked Questions about Downloading E-Books
Q. What is an Ebook?
A.The word "ebook" is a shortened version of "electronic book". Basically, an ebook is a book that is purchased in electronic format, as a PDF file, instead of in print format as a printed and bound book. With an ebook, you can print it out yourself and put it into a binder, or you can read it on your computer screen. Ebooks are generally less expensive than print books because they require little overhead, and there is no minimum order that must be printed up. This makes ebooks ideal for smaller publishers and new authors with niche book ideas. Ebooks are also ideal for those who are looking for specific information, but who do not necessarily care if that information is in printed format. In many ways, it is nicer to have the information printed out and put into a binder for future use!
Q. How do I receive my purchased Ebook?
A.When you purchase ebooks from me, you will be redirected from Paypal back to my site's download page immediately after your payment is accepted (which is instantly, unless you have done an e-check via Paypal, which takes a little bit longer). If you are using a check or money order (or an echeck with paypal), I will activate your download link when I receive payment, and you will receive a notification in your email.
To download your ebooks after you are redirected, right mouse click on the download link, and select "Save target as..." or "Save link as..." to save your ebook to your computer.
Q.HELP! I wasn't redirected after I purchased an ebook!
A. Not to worry. Just to go the bookstore, and log into your account. After you log in, you can visit your order history page within your account, select your order, and you'll see a download link within your order.
Q. It appears my download links have expired. Help!
For security, the unique download links are only valid for up to 7 days. After that, I'll need to reactivate them for you. Just drop me an email, and I'll be happy to do that for you. Please keep in mind, after they are reactivated, you'll only have another 7 days. I have no way of activating them indefinately.
Q. I am paying by check or money order. Can I still get my Ebook?
A.Yes, though you will not be able to download your Ebook until your check clears. Once your check clears, I will turn on your download code, and it will be emailed to you.
Q. Can I download E-Books with a slow dial-up connection?
A. Yes. Though it may take longer to download with dial-up than with high-speed, and you may have problems downloading a very large file, most of my ebooks should be easily downloaded by dial-up users. My largest ebook is my Advent ebook, due to all of the artwork in it, which is why I have it available in a .zip format.
Q. Do I need special software to open my Ebook?
A. All of my ebooks are sold in Adobe PDF format, which is opened using Adobe's Free Adobe Acrobat Reader. Most computers have this already installed. If, for some reason, it is not installed on your computer, you can find it at Adobe's website.
If you've purchased an ebook in a .zip folder, you can extract the folder first, on a Windows computer, by right mouse clicking, selecting "Extract to..." and extracting the file. If you've previously had a commercial compression program installed on your computer (such as WinZip), it may prompt you to activate that again. Disable or uninstall any offending trial versions of zip programs, and try again.
Q. What do I do if I have problems downloading my E-Book?
A. If you have problems downloading an E-Book, please email me and I will try to help you.
Q. How do I save the E-Books on my computer so that I can find them again?
A. Many people find that saving items directly to their "Desktop" (in Windows), which assures you will always be able to find them right on your desktop. This works, but it will clutter up your computer's desktop. I recommend setting up a folder just for the E-Books you download. To do this, in Windows, go to My Documents and on the left side, click "New Folder". You can name the folder whatever you want. When you download an E-Book, you have the option to open or save. If you choose open, the E-Book will pop up in a new window, as an Adobe pdf file. From here, choose file, then save as, and you can select where you would like the E-Book to be stored. Select my documents and then look for the E-Books folder that you previously created. Double click on the EBooks folder and your E-Book will be saved there for easy reference. You may also want to consider saving your E-Books to a CD or flash drive. This frees up space on your computer and your E-Books are still stored in one spot.
Q. Can I print an E-Book?
A. Yes!
Q. I was so blessed by your Ebook that I want to share it with some friends. Can I email it to them?
A. Each of the Ebooks sold on this website, in my bookstore, are copyrighted for use within your immediate family only. In other words, you may make copies for each of your children, but you CANNOT legally make copies for everyone you know. I deliberately keep my prices lower than many ebook publishers because I want to be a blessing to other moms and families, and still make enough to cover expenses and have a little bit left over! For more information on Copyrights, visit Homeschool Copyright.
Of course, you may tell others about my products through the "share" button at the bottom of each product page. I always appreciate referrals.
